James W. Stuart
Jim Stuart was born and raised in Detroit, and has been a resident of Northville for over 25 years. After completing his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, receiving a B.A. in Economics, he worked as an insurance claims adjuster while attending law school at University of Detroit School of Law, graduating in May, 1977, and passing the bar exam in October, 1977. Jim has been continually licensed to practice since that time.
Jim joined OAS in 1978, and in 1984, Jim was made a partner in Ogne, Jinks, Ecclestone & Alberts, P.C., which subsequently became Ogne, Alberts & Stuart, P.C. He gained most of his experience in personal injury and product liability cases before specializing in asbestos litigation. For over twenty years, he has defended numerous manufacturers and distributors of asbestos containing products.
For the last seven years, Jim has been named by Super Lawyers® as one of the top lawyers in Michigan. He is also listed in DBusiness Magazine's 2009 List of Top Lawyers, and has an AV Preeminent Attorney rating by Martindale Hubbell.
Jim is married and has two children and three grandchildren. He has coached his boys' baseball, basketball, and soccer teams, and was an assistant Scoutmaster for his sons' Boy Scouts troop. He has participated in the MDA Lock-Up, raising money for muscular dystrophy research. He is a member of the Northville Historical Society, and enjoys spending time at his place in Petoskey, golfing, fishing, and boating.
